We offer accelerated orthodontic treatment for your comfort and lifestyle. Using our Bio-stimulating, non-ablative laser can decrease discomfort and also decrease your treatment time up to 50%. Ease your comfort with this light energy Therapy. All you have to do is wear your appliance and we will do all the activation for you.

For most people a beautiful smile is the most obvious benefit of orthodontics. Less obvious, but more important, are jaw fatigue or pain due to poor bite, malocclusion, lack of airway space, and sleep disorders such as snoring. After your aligners or braces come off, you'll feel more self-confident and self assured.

What is Orthodontics?

Meaning “straight teeth,” orthodontics refers to a specialization in diagnosing, preventing, and/or correcting teeth, jaws, and bite patterns that are not correctly aligned. While not everyone has crooked teeth, this is not an uncommon issue, which means there are many ways to approach fixing them.

By using orthodontics, you can achieve permanent results for your mouth. There are several ways to straighten your teeth, and all of them have proven, excellent results for patients of all ages. Whether you're in school or retired, it's never too early or late to get the smile you've always wanted.

Benefits of Straight Teeth

Having straight teeth can improve your life in many ways. Not only do you see improvements in your smile, your entire mouth feels and works better. This is because teeth that are misaligned can cause pain or problems with oral health, such as buildups of plaque in areas that are hard to brush.

While it's true that your smile may be beautiful just as it is, your oral health may be at risk due to issues in your teeth and jaw. In addition, orthodontics fix more than just crooked teeth. They can correct gaps, crossbites, underbites, overbites, worn teeth, misaligned jaws, receding gums, and even problems with TMJ. This all creates a healthier mouth, especially because you can brush and floss more easily than before, preventing tooth decay.

How Orthodontic Treatment Works

Orthodontic appliances can be made of plastic, metal, or ceramic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, aligners/braces slowly move teeth to a corrected position. This is a great time to wear aligners or braces! Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can choose brackets that are clear or a metallic color. You can choose the color of the ties that hold the wire in brackets. Wires are also less noticeable than they used to be and the latest materials move teeth faster with less discomfort to patients.

Duration of Orthodontics Treatment

Treatment time typically ranges from one to three years, depending on the growth of the patient's mouth and face as well as on the severity of the problem. Patients grow at different rates and will respond variously to orthodontic treatment, so the time to completion may differ from the original estimate. The patient's diligent use of any prescribed rubber bands or headgear is an important factor in achieving the most efficient treatment. Interceptive, or early treatment procedures, may take as few as six months. Propel, Acceledent, and Lightwalker Laser therapy may be implemented to help decrease your orthodontic treatment time by up to 50% of the typical time!

Results of Orthodontics

After you have completed your individual treatment plan, your teeth will be noticeably straighter and your bite will be corrected.

You will notice that with your teeth functioning correctly after your orthodontics treatment, it will not only be easier to properly care for them, you will no longer struggle with issues you may have had previously. This includes headaches, grinding at night, TMJ, or even just food and bacteria getting caught in your teeth. And yes, you will also notice an improvement in your smile, which can elevate your self-esteem and increase your confidence so that you no longer hide your teeth in selfies or group photos. Instead, proudly show off the results of your orthodontic journey.

Post Orthodontic Care

Once you have achieved the goal of correcting alignment in your mouth, it's extremely important to continue to maintain those results. This is usually done by wearing a retainer. Some retainers are permanent, while others are only worn at night or when you sleep.

This ensures that your teeth remain in place and do not shift back. You will also need to continue to brush and floss regularly to keep your mouth healthy and your smile bright. Depending on the type of treatment our Pasadena orthodontic clients get, you will need to make sure you follow all of Dr. Greenberg's instructions to care for your teeth and keep your mouth healthy and functioning correctly.
